Most Quickspin slots come stacked with innovative gameplay, mini bonuses and free spins.

You won’t find them with Diamond Duke. No bells and whistles here, only straight forward gameplay.

Quickspin has gone back to the roots and comes up with a video slot that looks like it belongs to the first or possibly the second generation of (online) slot machines.

Fortunately, the sober-looking Diamond Duke is more than just spinning and hoping for a payout.

Two more bonus features spice up things a bit.

Diamond Duke gameplay and features

Diamond Duke has 3 reels with 3 rows of symbols and 5 fixed paylines: 3 horizontal lines and 2 diagonal ones.

Wagering is done with a bet range between 5 cents and $€ 100 per spin. Are you a genuine low-roller?

With a few tenners deposit, you’ll play away for a few hours with minimum bets.

The variance is high; you can win up to 8,000 x the total stake.

The theoretical payout rate is 96.23%. That’s not exceptionally high, but certainly not bad.

Symbols and payouts

All classic slot machine symbols are on board.

The high symbols consist of diamonds, red sevens and bells. These yield between 6 x and 160 x the bet with a 3-of-a-kind.

The fruit symbols (melons, grapes and cherries) are worth between 1 x and 2 x the bet.

The ‘Wheel’ symbol is the scatter and leads to one of the two bonus features.

Multiplier Wheel

A wheel of fortune has been built into the slot machine. The inner wheel rotates when you’ve managed to spin a full screen with the same symbol.

The total winnings are now multiplied by the outcome of the (inner) Multiplier Wheel. The lowest multiplier is x 2, and the highest is x 10.

If you spun a full screen of diamonds, you could win a maximum of 160 x 5 (win lines) x 10 = 8,000 x the wager.

By the way, the chance of this happening is not very high, to say the least: with 100 billion simulated spins, Quickspin hit this prize only once.

Bonus Wheel

You may give the Bonus Wheel (the outer wheel) a twist when you hit two or three scatters.

The scatters also earn you a cash prize:

  • Two scatters: 4 x the total bet.
  • Three scatters: 8 x the total bet.

The twist of the outer wheel can yield the following prices:

  • A star
  • A multiplier (between x2 and x10)

The star is what you have to hope for: it will take you straight to the main bonus feature.

You may now, wayyyy retro, pick and click.

Choose your coins, and you’ll get a cash prize, an upgrade, or a “final bonus.” The upgrades allow the prizes to increase, up to a maximum of 100 x the scatter winnings.

You can imagine things can skyrocket fast.

Our verdict on Diamond Duke

The Diamond Duke slot machine isn’t quite our cup of tea. This slot game is rather simple and relies on two simple bonus wheel features.

It reminds us of the boring edition of Fire Joker with an additional pick-and-click bonus.

Now Fire Joker is quite a popular slot machine, and Diamond Duke will surely get its fan base as well, but we were more than done after one session.

3 out of 5 stars.
