Since Pragmatic Play discovered with Wolf Gold just how popular the Jackpot Respin feature was, they are releasing one slot after the other with this same feature

Is that a bad thing? Yes and no. Apparently, the saturation point for slots like this has not been reached yet. And what the gaming public wants, it gets.

And yet, we are once again longing for something else, something different to come from Pragmatic Play. It has to be said: they are trying to make something out of the jackpot respins by continually making small adjustments.

Monkey Warrior revolves around a cool monkey, who, like a fierce warrior, seems to be the person in control of things. Together with his crew, he fights for world peace, opposing the barbarians.

That is the story we sort of added because this slot doesn’t have a storyline.

How does Monkey Warrior work?

Monkey Warrior has a classic video slot set up: 5 reels with 3 rows of symbols.

The win all ways mechanism is active, so you have 243 possible winning combinations.

Betting is done with a fixed amount per spin that starts with $€ 0.25 and goes up to $€ 125.

The variance is high: you can win a maximum of 6,000 x the bet. Although this number is virtually impossible to reach (more about that in a minute), this is a very volatile slot.

The theoretical payout rate is 96.50%. And that is, of course, excellent.

Symbols and payouts

The beautifully designed symbols consist of 4 warriors (our friend the Monkey Warrior among them) and several low-value symbols.

The Monkey Warrior is wild and replaces all other symbols, except for the scatters.

When you spin 5 x a prince, a pig or a warrior, you win between 8 x and 20 x the total bet.

The scroll is also worth a lot: 5-of-a-kind of this symbol is good for a prize of 6 x the total bet.

The low-value symbols consist of a small bottle with a green concoction in it and the card symbols Q, K and A. Spin 5 identical ones of these low-value symbols for a prize of 2 x the total bet.

Free spin bonus

You win the free spin bonus if you can spin three scattered BONUS symbols. You will now receive 8 free spins that can be retriggered endlessly. During the free spins, all low-value symbols are removed from the game.

This bonus feature is seriously fickle: now and then, you win your total bet a few times, but then again, you easily can get yourself 100 x your bet.

Money Respin Feature

The Money Respin Feature is “where the magic happens,” as they say.

You win it if you spin 6 or more peaches. You will see a money amount or a jackpot on each peach. You will get the money anyway if you win the bonus feature. After that, it becomes the challenge to spin as many added peaches as you possibly can.

You get five turns to do this, and sometimes you can have a chance to get extra spins after a turn.

Earn extra spins

Three treasure chests will appear on the screen, one of which you get to choose. You always get 1, 2 or 3 extra spins added.

The jackpots can get you the following prizes:

• Grand: 200 x the total bet
• Major: 100 x the total bet
• Minor: 50 x the total bet
• Mini: 10 x the total bet

Did you manage to fill the screen with peaches, all 15 spots? Then all the amounts you win will be doubled. Now that adds up real nice!

But what about that maximum price of 6,000 x the total bet?

It is like this. You will have to spin a Grand Jackpot on EVERY single position on the field. That is worth 15 x 200 = 3,000 x the total bet. Subsequently, the prize is doubled to 6,000 x the total bet.

When you see how hard it is to spin just 1 Grand Jackpot, then you realize that the chance to get 15 is so small as to be virtually non-existent.

Let’s put it this way: we wouldn’t hold our breath for that main prize. It is never going to happen.

That does not change the fact that you simply win a bunch of sweet prizes with the Money Respin Feature, especially if you manage to fill the entire screen.

Our verdict on the Monkey Warrior video slot

Pragmatic Play understands like no other the art of producing good-looking, fast and entertaining slots.

They are running the risk now to be going a little bit overboard with their jackpot respin feature slots, but that does not take away from the fact that Monkey Warrior is simply another great release.
