Knights Keep slot review (WMS)
After Black Knight and Black Night 2, WMS decided it was time for (probably) the last part: Knight’s Keep. In recent years, WMS has had great difficulty in being truly innovative and relies heavily on reusing old, trusted names. While the first two editions mainly revolved around the sticky expanded wilds during the free spins, Knight’s Keep takes an entirely different approach.Play Now

Knight’s Keep is a WMS video slot, and the third slot in the Black Knight series
Out with the sticky expanded wilds and in with the reels’ new arrangement: 1 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 4 x 5 x 6. Although, of course, this is not entirely new, we already saw WMS apply this mechanism to Zeus III and Red Flag Fleet, for example.
The 192 pay lines have also stayed untouched.
How does the Knight’s Keep slot work?
Knight’s Keep has 6 reels, arranged like a kind of tower flipped on its side. The first reel has 1 symbol, and the last reel has 6.
Betting is done from $€ 0.40 per spin, and that rises to $ 200 per spin. A significant advantage of the online versions of WMS slots over the land base version: the payout rate is much higher. Whereas a WMS slot in Las Vegas or any other land-based casino pays out no more than 91% – 92% (and often considerably less), this Knight’s Keep has an RTP of 96.01%. We like these numbers.
The variance of Knight’s Keep is medium. The maximum payout is limited at $€ 250,000, an amount you in practice only have a chance of winning with the maximum bet active.
Symbols and payouts
It will come as no surprise that knights, kings and jokers rule this slot. All symbols can appear in stacks on the reels, except the scatter symbol.
The beautifully designed black knight is wild and yields 400 coins for a 6-of-a-kind. The wild replaces all symbols except the scatters.
The other high paying symbols consist of the King, the Queen, and the Joker. 6 of the same symbols awards a prize of between 200 and 300 coins.
WMS chose the crown, the staff, and 4 card symbols (hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs) as low symbols. These are worth between 50 and 150 coins for each 6-of-a-kind on an active payline.
Free spins bonus: mirrored playing field and synchronized reels
The primary game can amount to nice payouts from time to time, but it can turn into a big win bonanza during the free spins.
As soon as you spin 3 or more scatters, you win the free spins bonus.
You can spin up to 5 scatters, giving you the following prize:
- 3 scatters: 5 free spins + 2 x total bets
- 4 scatters: 12 free spins + 10 x total bets
- 5 scatters: 25 free spins + 50 x total bets
But that’s not all. Of course, WMS has some nice tricks up their sleeve to give the free spins a nice boost.
First of all, the reels are mirrored. They are placed in a 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 3 x 2 x 1 setup during the free spins. The number of paylines remains the same, but you have a better chance of winning big prizes.
Also, for every spin, the same symbol appears on 3 to 4 reels. A bit like Twin Spin, but just a bit different. This also increases the potential of spinning a super big win.
Our verdict on the Knight’s Keep slot machine
Knight’s Keep is a solid release of WMS. It is all not very spectacular, but very entertaining, nonetheless.
This a typically a slot that you might play for an hour now and then and put aside for a few months.
The bonus round is very unpredictable and can amount not only to huge payouts but also to utter disappointments.
3.5 out of 5 stars.
