Chocolates slot review (Big Time Gaming)

Chocolates slot review Big Time Gaming

Once again, Big Time Gaming has surprised me. Or perhaps not, as they surprise me every time. The Chocolates slot has much in common with the Donuts slot (released in 2018), but there are some subtle differences. And those differences are for the best, shall I say?  For starters, it feels like Chocolates is even more volatile than Donuts.

Chocolates slot: sometimes a slot doesn’t have to be complicated to be extraordinary

It has to do with the chocolate boxes that can have up to 4 bonbons. If you manage to get these lovely boxes in all 4×4 grid positions, you can have up to 65,636 ways to win! That makes a difference: in Donuts, there are up to 256 ways to win.

The theme, chocolate, must appeal to everyone, I guess. Do you know anyone who doesn’t like chocolate?

Everyone is happy when they get a chocolate box as a gift. The critical question: how many chocolate boxes will you unwrap?

Software: Big Time Gaming

Number of paylines: 4×4 setup and up to 65,636 ways to win

RTP and variance: 96.6%, High variance

Maximum win: unknown, but certainly in the thousands

Betting range: $€0.10 – $€25

Bonus features: Free spins with sticky chocolate boxes

Casino Hipster verdict: It’s a catchy and an easy to grasp slot with immense win potential.

Chocolates slot – Gameplay and Features

The slot has a 4×4 setup. The win all ways principle applies, giving you at least 256 ways to win (4x4x4x4=256).

There are 4 premium symbols, and those are the chocolate bonbons. If you manage to spin a four of a kind of Purple, Red, Blue or Green bonbon, it will get you a win of 1x, 0.5x, 0.4x and 0.3x, respectively.

Also, there are 6 low paying symbols: the 9, 10, J, Q, K and A.

The Wild symbols replace all symbols, and these have multipliers of x6.  If you land a winner, with, for example, 3 Wilds, you can multiply the win by as much as 216 (6x6x6=216)!

Furthermore, you have the Scatters, which you recognize by the Gold Colored Clocks. Yes, Switzerland is the country of chocolates and watches. It all makes sense to me!

Multiple chocolates in one chocolate box – therefore, more ways to win

What’s so appealing is that you can spin a chocolate box on all 4 reels.

Inside the chocolate box, you’ll have 1, 2, 3 or even 4 bonbons. And these count for the same number of times.

In short, it is possible to spin 7 bonbons on one reel (3 bonbons plus 1 box with 4 bonbons).

And the result is that you can have up to 2401 ways to win (7x7x7x7=2401). To get this far, you need to have the same colour of bonbon on all reels.

How do you get the free spins?

If you spin 3 or 4 Scatters, you trigger 7 or 10 free spins.

If you manage to spin 4 chocolate boxes on the same reel during the free spins, you get an extra 3 free spins.

The free spins – chocolate boxes are sticky

The fact that these are sticky is, obviously, very convenient.

And on top of that, the scatters you got in the first place are transformed into chocolate boxes. That gets you a perfect head start!

Furthermore, the chocolate boxes on all reels have the same colour of chocolates.

And it gets even better.

Opposed to the main game, you can spin up to 4 chocolate boxes per reel. If things go your way, you can land 4 chocolate boxes on all 4 reels. And if all 16 boxes have 4 bonbons inside, you’re talking about a tasty 65,636 ways to win (16x16x16x16=65,636).

Clearly, your balance can sky-rocket, thanks to the chocolate boxes. If all goes well, the odds for you to bring home a Swiss watch (perhaps a Rolex or a Tag Heuer?) will be way better than the odds for you bringing home a bar of chocolate!

Payout percentage (RTP)

The payout percentage of Chocolates is more than exquisite, at 96.6%.

Chocolates slot – the variance (volatility) is high

At the time of writing, I do (officially) not know, yet, what the variance is or what the maximum win of Chocolate is.

Looking at the gameplay, though, it feels that this slot is even more volatile than Donuts. In short, I do not doubt that we are talking about a very volatile slot with massive win potential.
