Online slots and vampires have proven to be a successful combination for years.

Microgaming has Immortal Romance, Netent has Blood Suckers and Play’n GO has Wild Blood (and Wild Blood 2).

So if you, as a slot provider, want to play with the big boys, you just have to have a vampire video slot in your portfolio.

With this in mind, Elk Studios released the slot Blood Lust in April 2020.

Blood Lust is a slot game that can award you up to 2,500 x the total bet and has a fairly high variance.

Regarding the bonus features, Elk Studios did not go all out but kept it simple: respins and free spins (with progressive premium symbols).

Although we miss the real magic a bit with Blood Lust, there are enough interesting elements in it to keep us entertained and engaged.

Blood Lust gameplay and features

Blood Lust is played on a 5 x 3 playing field and has no less than 99 paylines.

Betting starts at 20 cents per spin and runs up to $€ 100 per spin. Once you have wagered the maximum bet, you can grab $€ 250,000, theoretically exciting when the stars align, lady luck smiles at you, AND you don’t get bitten by a vampire! But then again, we do not play for the money, right? – wink, wink –

The theoretical payout rate is 96%. This has pretty much become the norm for Elk Studios slots: no surprises here. If you want better paying Elk slots, try Valkyrie (with equally stunning visuals), Wild Toro, and Platooners.

Symbols and payouts

The four vampires are the premium symbols. The young Dracula is worth the most: 4 x the bet with every 5-or-a-kind.

His two sexy female sidekicks and his male fellow vampire are worth between 0.80 x and 1.60 x the bet with five of the same.

The wild symbol replaces all symbols except the scatters.

Lastly, as usual, we arrive at the low symbols, the card symbols hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs. Spin five of the same and you win 0.30 x the total bet.Blood Lust review Elk Studios mega win

Boosted Respin

As soon as a Respin symbol drops on the fifth roll, a random symbol is selected. All of these symbols, together with any wilds and bonus scatters, are locked in place, followed by a free respin.

If you hit another respin symbol, yet another respin follows. If not, all winning combinations (if applicable) are paid out.

Free spins bonus

Three or more scatters will earn you the free spins bonus.

The number of free spins is determined by the imaginary rectangular area that surrounds the bonus scatters.

Any position outside of this plane will earn you a free spin.

In other words, the closer the scatters are to each other, the more free spins you win.

You can win a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 15 free spins.

During the free spins, it’s essential to fill the vampire meters at the top of the reels. Each symbol you spin fills the vampire’s counter.

When the meter is full, you do not only get an extra free spin, but this symbol is also changed into the young Dracula.

The further you get, the higher the odds are a handsome payout with the most valuable symbol comes your way.

Our verdict on Blood Lust

The Blood Lust video slot is one of Elk Studios’ most charming online games.

It looks incredible and is decked out with two exciting bonus features, both of which can be very lucrative.

So Blood Lust doesn’t pack enough of a punch to be labelled an upcoming Elk classic or blockbuster but is worth a try.
