Spartacus Megaways slot review (Scientific Games)
Spartacus Megaways is a fantastic Megaways slot with some impressive features
In the first century B.C., the gladiator and slave rebel Spartacus rebelled against the Romans, where he got the company of an army of rebellious slaves. He managed to make life a living hell for many Romans, and he seemed unstoppable until overconfidence got him killed.
Now, you should never get overconfident when you gamble, but this slot is one to sit down for!
Scientific Games has a proven track record when it comes to Megaways slots. Do you remember Montezuma Megaways, Raging Rhino Megaways or Battleship Direct Hit Megaways?
What’s more, the win potential at Spartacus is pretty insane as well!
On Spartacus Megaways, you can land up to 12.500x the bet
If you bet a maximum of twenty, you can bag a quarter of a million in the most extreme case. If you plan to loot, you have to do it right!

Spartacus Megaways slot – Gameplay and Features
It is a standard Megaways slot in many ways, but it does come with some unique elements.
- There are 6 reels with symbols.
- On the first and last reel, you have 2 to 10 symbols. On the middle reels, there are 2 to 9.
- At the bottom, you have a reel (“bottom reel”) with 4 symbols.
- Because of this, there are at least 324 and at most 1 million (10x10x10x10x10x10=1 million) Megaways.
- The Cascading (Avalanche or Tumbling) mechanism in play, so you get free re-spins after each winning combo.
- Winning symbols disappear and make way for new symbols.
The premium symbols are, besides Spartacus himself, a Slave with a sword, a Tiger, a Helmet, a Shield and 2 Axes.
The A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 are the low-paying symbols.
The Wild symbol is a Knight with the letters WILD. These appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 only, and these replace all symbols except the Bonus Symbols. The Bonus Symbol is the Amphitheatre symbol.
You can see that the reels’ upper part is (usually) partly covered with red curtains. That part of the reel is not active. The “curtain configuration” changes after each paid spin.
The trick is to pull up the curtains so that more symbols are “in play,” which happens if you get a winning combo. For the subsequent free re-spin, one curtain of one reel is (partly) pulled up.
This process continues until you fail to make another winning combo.
Land four Bonus Symbols in the main game to trigger the free spins.
You access the free spins if you spin four or more Bonus Symbols.
You’ll see how many free spins you get once you get there. A wheel spins and stops at 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 or 16 free spins.
You will also find out what the curtain configuration will be during the free spins. It remains unchanged for the remaining free spins.
If you manage to spin another three Bonus symbols during the free spins, you’ll get as many extra free spins as before (6 to 16 additional free spins). The curtain configuration remains the same for the extra free spins.
The free spins: increasing multipliers
Once you get to the free spins, you benefit from an incremental multiplier, which increases by +1 after each winning combo, as we see with many other Megaways slots.
If you get many free spins and get many winning combos initially, it can go very rapidly with your balance. After all, you have up to 1 million Megaways!
Payout percentage (RTP)
The RTP of Spartacus Megaways is 96.32%, and that is, of course, fine.
Spartacus Megaways slot – the variance (volatility) is high.
According to Scientific Games, this online slot has a high variance. I expect the top wins to be well over 1,000x.
Pros and Cons
