Divine Fortune Megaways (Netent) slot review
Divine Fortune Megaways online slot (Netent) – Netent extend their Megaways slots offering with one of their classics. Besides adding the powerful Megaways engine to the reels, Netent has also thrown in some jackpots. The result is a highly enjoyable slot that should please most fans of the original.
Play NowAfter the Megaways makeover of Twin Spin, the aptly named Twin Spin Megaways, it’s now the progressive jackpot slot Divine Fortune’s turn.
And that is, in summary, the main change compared to the original version. Another difference is that, despite the three jackpots, the progressive jackpot is missing. Unfortunately, the RTP is somewhat lowered, aligned with Netent’s new strategy as of 2020.
It’s Netent’s second Megaways slot, but I bet many more will follow as long as players continue to love Megaways slots.
And I see no reason why this will stop soon!
Greek Mythology
It’s a Greek mythology-themed slot, where Medusa and the mythical, winged, and divine horse Pegasus are the most prominent characters.
Medusa is one of the three Gorgonians. To her regret, she always lived in a country where the sun never shone.
Pegasus arose out of love between Medusa and the sea god Poseidon. Pegasus was born out of Medusa’s blood when she got killed.
In Divine Fortune Megaways, you will soon notice that you can’t do without Pegasus if you want to win big.
Divine Fortune Megaways – Gameplay and Features
Divine Fortune Megaways has 6 reels with 2 to 7 symbols, and there are up to 117,649 Megaways.
Unlike most Megaways slots, you don’t get a free respin after a winning combo.
However, free respins are earned when the horse Pegasus makes his appearance. I’ll tell you more about this in a moment.
The four premium symbols are Medusa, a Lion, a Bull, and a Raptor. The five lower paying symbols are the 10, J, Q, K, and A.
The most important symbols are the Wild symbols (the horse Pegasus). You also have Free Spins symbols (the Scatters).
Falling Wilds Respins
If you spin a Wild (the horse Pegasus), you get a free respin.
The horse drops one position on the same reel during each free respin.
As long as Pegasus is still on the reel, you continue to get the free respins. The free respins stop once the Pegasus symbol drops off at the bottom of the reel.
If, for example, you land a Wild on the top position of a reel with 7 symbols (which is the maximum number of symbols), you get 7 free respins!
Wild on wild feature
It can also happen that the horse rears and that the reel is stacked with Pegasus.
It has two main advantages. You get a stacked reel of the Wild horse (fantastic if it’s reel 1 or 2), and you get many free respins because it takes some time before the horse disappears!
The Free Spins
You gain 10, 15, or 20 free spins if you manage to spin 4, 5, or 6 scatters.
The free spins can’t retrigger, but with the free spins bonus round, you’ll get plenty of extra free respins, as long as the horse Pegasus makes his way.
The three jackpots: Bronze, Silver, and Gold
You will also see bronze, silver, and golden coins during the free spins. It reminds me of the Olympic spirit, which, I guess, is no coincidence with a Greek Mythology slot.
If you manage to collect 5 bronze coins, you land the Bronze Jackpot, which is good for 10x the bet.
Also, for the Silver (25x the bet) and Gold (500x the bet) jackpots, you must collect 5 silver and 5 gold coins. All coins you collected disappear once the free spins session ends.
Payout percentage (RTP)
The RTP of Divine Fortune Megaways is 96.09%. Unfortunately, those percentages have become a reality with the newer Netent slots.
The times that Netent released slots with the more generous RTP seem to have gone. The original Devine Fortune has an RTP of 96.59%.
Divine Fortune Megaways slot – the variance is medium to high
Netent has not yet officially announced the variance, but I expect it to be medium to high.
The Gold Jackpot is already 500x, so wins must top 500x. Given the gameplay (no multipliers, for example), I consider top wins of 500x to 1,000x to be more realistic.
Pros en Cons
Pros
- It reminds us of the fantastic original Divine Fortune slot, but now it’s even better thanks to the Megaways.
- The Wild Features appeal, which I have not seen with any of the other Megaways slots.
- The three jackpots are complementary.
Cons
- The RTP of 96.09% is not too generous.
So, who’ll like the slot? And who won’t?
If you love Divine Fortune, then you’ll also love this slot. The gameplay is similar, but now it has the eccentric Megaways.
Only those players who seek the progressive jackpot slots will be somewhat disillusioned.
4 out 5 stars.
